Italy, Republic. An Order of the Roman Eagle, Knight’s Cross, c.1944 Auction this bayonet remains in a(Grande Ufficiale dell'Ordine civile e militare dell'Aquila romana). Instituted 14 March 1942 by King Victor Emmanuel III. (1942 1944 official issue; issued by the Italian Social Republic until 1945). A Knights Cross, in silver gilt, a white enameled Cross Patte joined through the arms by a circular green enameled laurel wreath, the central disc featuring an eagle clutching a fasces in its talons (denoting 1944 45 issue), the reverse medallion
